When you make an impact on someone’s life, it is one of the greatest gifts you can give. We all have the desire to help others whether it’s by a grand gesture or random act of kindness.
At GAEMS, we are helping members of our military enjoy some of the comforts of home while serving overseas. We are proud to support Operation Supply Drop (OSD) which serves active duty military, their families and the veteran community.
Operation Supply Drop was founded in 2010 with a mission of delivering video game care packages to military members stationed around the world. OSD now serves more than 300 units and over 100,000 active-duty military and families. More than 500,000 video games have been donated.
OSD also provides care and assistance to veterans in transition through programs that address mental health, homelessness and employment.
The video game care packages “Provide camaraderie and the ability to give some outlet for the troops so that they have something to do in their spare time,” said Operation Supply Drop CEO Glenn D. Banton Sr.
Care packages are delivered to global hotspots like Afghanistan and Iraq. Along with a GAEMS Vanguard, troops receive video games, an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and a headset.
GAEMS is teaming up this year with Operation Supply Drop for VETOBER®. The goal of the campaign through the month of October is to raise funds and awareness for ongoing OSD veteran support programs because “one day isn’t enough.”
As the VETOBER® campaign gets underway, we’re asking you to help us make an impact on the lives of our military. Your involvement is crucial to our success so we can support those who've given so much. The goal is to raise $250,000, which would allow OSD to:
- Provide supply drops for over 30,000 service members to be shipped in November and December
- Host over 90 community outreach and support events including homeless veteran initiatives, Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, and community development projects.
- Lead multiple professional development seminars benefitting hundreds of veterans in their communities in partnership with corporate partners such as Google and Microsoft.
If Operation Supply Drop reaches its goal of raising $250,000, GAEMS co-founder John Smith will donate $100,000 worth of GAEMS products to OSD in 2017.
“At the end of the day it’s all about providing fun, and that’s what Operation Supply Drop and GAEMS do so well together,” Banton said.
Don’t wait. Join us and help make a difference for our veterans and our military. Learn more at our Team GAEMS VETOBER® site.
